The Globe Trekker team goes North, South, East, West and all points in between in this 8 hour travel guide.  We start the day off with a cross country road trip.  Enjoy the scenery of the Blue Ridge Highway and then we’ll turn onto Route 66.  From there, off to Mexico, Fiji, China and many more locations.  Get a snack and settle in your favorite chair, there will be no need for a passport for this jaunt around the world. (Marathon begins at 6 pm)

Just north of Sicily’s eastern coast lies a volcanic archipelago renowned for perfect weather, beautiful scenery, deep caverns, blue grottos, steep cliffs, ancient ruins, thermal healing resorts and volcanos … including one of the most active on the planet … erupting almost continuously for the last 2,000 years! While we went looking for islands out of time, what we found on “Italy’s Aeolian Islands” was a series of unique experiences for all of the senses. From islands so isolated that there was no radio to the extremely upscale tourist destinations, we treated all of our senses to the wonders of these volcanic dots … smelling citrus, jasmine and salt, listening to the call of fishmongers and then to the silence of the night sky, tasting incomparable Aeolian tomatoes and their beloved capers, felt mineral baths and sunshine on our skin … and met people who welcomed us into their unique lives with generosity and care.

#1205 : Jerry discusses the unique steps that an artist will take to actually develop a painting. What exactly is his or her inspiration from idea to the execution of the painting? He discusses the use of a camera for resources, using a color printer and setting up a research library. The next step is the setting up of a still life, the proper lighting, suggested items for the setting such as colored fruit, vases, flowers, all the while watching the negative space even as you set up the still life. What we see in life, what we feel, the emotion that follows, that passion for painting, which is how an artist operates. After deciding on the composition, Jerry begins the background with Turquoise Deep and Ultramarine Blue; when it is dried he sketches in the composition with a white conte pencil.

#101 "Harvest Challenge"
In the first episode, 12 people from all walks of life arrive on the gorgeous Central Coast of California just as the grape harvest kicks into high gear. It’s initiation by fire as the contestants work around the clock for 48 hours picking grapes, cleaning tanks and making wine. In the end we separate the mere wine lover from the budding wine maker and find out who has the drive and dedication to become a winemaker.
