On October 30th 1938 Orson Wells' live broadcast of the HG Wells classic "War of the Worlds" shocked much of the country who believed the alien attack described in the radio play was real. October 30th 2008 at 8:00 pm, on the 70th anniversary of the original broadcast, WSKG-TV and Radio reenacted this classic broadcast live from our Vestal Studios.

Local Actors including Bill Gorman, and WSKG radio personalities perform the play from the original script, all sound effects and musical interludes were reenacted live to cue just as the original radio drama was performed and directed by Orson Well 70 years ago. The viewers see and hear exactly how the drama was constructed to a terrified America in 1938.

This week on MARKET WARRIORS, pickers Miller, John, Bob and Kevin head out to Canton, Texas, home to First Monday Trade Days — a large outdoor monthly market with a mixture of antiques and new wares. The challenge to find authentic Mission Oak furniture amid the recently made crafts puts one picker up against the clock. Off-screen host Mark L. Walberg injects quick wit and a collector’s know-how as the pickers scour the market for key finds, which include a pair of Knoll Chairs, a Bostrom Brady Surveying Tool and an antique document box. The winning picker is determined at A.N. Abell Auction Company in Los Angeles, California, where chosen items go under the hammer.

Harry’s desire to impress Beryl leads him and Johnny into the world of boxing and, as their big fight draws closer, the boys are determined to reign victorious.
