Cornell, Birth of the American University wins NYSBA
award
WSKG TV Producer Brian Frey has won “Best Documentary” from
the New York State Broadcasters Association. Frey won for
Cornell: Birth of the American University, which first
premiered on WSKG TV in December 2004. The award was announced
during the NYSBA Broadcast Awards Banquet at the Sagamore
Resort Hotel on Lake George, NY on June 28, 2005.
In
October of 1868 the first students of a new university
began the rugged hike up East Hill in Ithaca, NY. They
would be the first students of the college that would change
the way higher education was taught in the United States. Cornell:
Birth of the American University chronicles the founding
of Cornell University, focusing on two men, Ezra Cornell
and Andrew Dickson White, whose individual dreams and ambitions
would come together to create one of the great institutions
of learning in the world. This one hour documentary includes
rare photos and film footage from the Cornell University
Archives.
Cornell:
Birth of the American University is produced by WSKG's
Brian Frey who also produced the
Emmy-Award winning documentaries The Flood of '35 and Glenn
Curtiss: The Forgotten Eagle.
