WSKG was the only television
station in the Southern Tier to have nominations for
this years Emmy Awards.
To win one Emmy is
exceptional, and to win two is extremely
unusual, comments Gary Reinbolt, WSKG Public
Broadcasting President, considering that the
largest television production center in North
America, Manhattan, is in this competition.
Brians achievements cannot be celebrated
enough. WSKG is proud to be able to translate member
support into exceptional programs like The Flood
of 35.
Mr.
Frey has also produced the documentaries Glenn Curtiss: The Forgotten Eagle, Binghamton: Building the Parlor
City, Watkins Glen: The Street Years, and Link:
The Quiet Genius.
The Flood of 35 recalls the events of Sunday
evening July 7, 1935 when the skies north of the
Southern Tier opened up, dumping more than 11 inches
of rain in some areas and inundating rivers,
lakes and streams throughout the valley. The terrible
chain of events that followed would devastate small
towns and cities alike, destroying hundreds of homes
and property and claiming more than 50 lives. It
would become the worst natural disaster in the
history of the Southern Tier. Utilizing hundreds of
photographs and film footage and through first person
accounts of the people who lived through it, The
Flood of 35 tells the story of that
horrible night and the days that followed.
