The prospect of hydraulic fracturing for natural gas in New York has created a complex debate between two camps: one to support the growth of industries that may bring jobs to the region, the other eyeing the risk of environmental damage that could harm a community's long-term sustainability. Can there be balance? At what point is the risk not worth the reward, and who gets to decide?
