We invite you for a June jam-packed with WSKG TV specials! Explore cultural history on May 30th at 8:00pm, see Paesani: The Story of the Italian Culture in America. Rock out on June 1st at 8:00pm with Doobie Brothers: Live at the Greek Theatre (and find out how to get tickets to see them live!). On June 2nd, keep the music going with Il Volo: We Are Love at 8:00pm and Roger Hodgson: Take the Long Way Home, featuring the voice of Supertramp (another ticket opportunity). Keep it local on June 4th with a Southern Tier Memory Store starting at 8:00pm and on June 6th with an Expressions marathon starting at 8:00pm.

WSKG is hosting PBS KIDS Raising Readers: Summer, a multi-platform event designed to address the learning losses children experience when they're away from the classroom. Raising Readers: Summer includes 10 weeks of special on-air programming, online activities for kids and parents, a social media campaign and events right here in the Southern Tier. Attend one of our Raising Readers events this summer! We'll kick things off on June 26th at the Broome County Public Library.

Anne Serling’s remembrance of her father in As I Knew Him: My Dad, Rod Serling is both sweet and sad. The Tompkins County resident tells Bill Jaker about growing up under the wing of the acclaimed playwright and takes questions from listeners. Tune in for Off the Page June 11th at 1:00pm and 7:00pm on WSKG Radio.

WSKG will be at the 2013 Ithaca Festival! Stop by the Lot 10 Stage (map) on Friday, May 31st to meet WSKGers between 3:00pm and 9:00pm. This year's festival will be held in Downtown Ithaca on Cayuga St. from Thursday, May 30th through Saturday, June 1st. On Sunday, June 2nd, the festival will relocate for a day in Stewart Park on the southern shore of Cayuga Lake.

The prospect of hydraulic fracturing for natural gas in New York has created a complex debate between two camps: one to support the growth of industries that may bring jobs to the region, the other eyeing the risk of environmental damage that could harm a community's long-term sustainability. Through the eyes of funeral director Isaiah Owens, the beauty and grace of African-American funerals are brought to life. Filmed at Owens Funeral Home in New York City's historic Harlem neighborhood, Homegoings takes an up-close look at the rarely seen world of undertaking in the black community, where funeral rites draw on a rich palette of tradition, history and celebration. The show-stopping musical Annie, its characters and its songs are timeless and classic. It’s been 35 years since the little orphan Annie first stepped onto a Broadway stage. For Annie’s return to Broadway, this documentary offers a memorable behind-the-scenes look at every step of a single Annie production number, from the earliest phases of discussion among the creative team, rehearsals with actors, to opening night on Broadway. The Fourth of July celebrates country, culture and cuisine. On June 28th at 10:00pm on WSKG TV, join host and chef Lidia Bastianich as she celebrates independence and freedom with different cultures across America in Lidia Celebrates America: Freedom and Independence. On July 4th, hear NPR hosts, reporters, newscasters and commentators read The Declaration of Independence aloud, and follow up with a special set of Independence Day music from WSKG Radio's Bill Snyder starting at 9:00am.
