Binghamton High School Community Event December 2012

December 15

Are you in? Binghamton students challenged their peers to get focused on graduating. Students organized a community resource fair to help classmates and parents get to know all the supports available to them, both in the school and around the community.

Learn how planning this real-world event led to great personal growth for these students!

1:00 – 4:00PM

Students, Parents, Teachers, Coaches, Administrators, Business Owners, Neighbors, Community Members, & Families -- All Are Invited!

How can your community help YOU become an American Graduate?
Come learn how!

Join us for an afternoon of fun, knowledge, and powerful conversation that focuses on what teens have to say about the dropout crisis-- and the support they need to graduate.

  • FREE FOOD prepared by BHS Culinary Arts students

  • 3-on-3 BASKETBALL Tournament to benefit Dollars for Scholars
  • Q&A Panel featuring formerly at-risk students who overcame struggles and challenges to achieve graduation

  • Find the SUPPORT you need! Meet with representatives from the Guidance Department, Upward Bound, The Haven, US Military, College Connections, The Urban League, Sister to Sister, and more.

This event is planned and presented by a 10th grade Careers English class at BHS!  These students and their teacher, Ms. Emily Buss, submitted the winning proposal to host this event.
