Upstate NY photographer, AD Wheeler describes his style as “abandonscape” photography.  He became bored with normal everyday items to photograph and ventured into the land of abandoned landscape photography.

He does research to find locations and makes contacts with owners and helps with the preservation process.

AD Wheeler’s photo “Spinning Fire” was chosen as a finalist in the Setting category in Hollywood Director Ron Howard’s Project Imagination.

The Art of Decay is an attempt to show beauty in all things abandoned and forgotten as well as attempting to raise awareness of the importance of preserving our historic buildings and sites.  AD Wheeler travels to abandoned, forgotten, and sometimes dangerous places to capture his images.  Some places are rich with history, and often steeped in controversy.   He seeks to employ strong composition, advanced photography techniques combined with controversial subject matter to create his art.
