"I paint from observation.
Finding beauty in all things common I respond to color
and the power it holds in creating mood. I am drawn,
also, to the eccentricities that I find in shape and perspective
when studying the simple everyday object or the complex natural
world.
Both still-life and
landscapes hold the same appeal: the challenge is nuance;
unexpected color, light; luminosity; feeling. Still life
painting allows close study of the illusive nature of color and
light that reveals the beauty of all things common. Landscape,
demands a more urgent response to its ever changing
nature.
My paintings are quiet,
intimate vignettes of low key color."
