Live music - Tea Sharp!

Music performed onsite in the WSKG Greenroom!

We ask two things of our guest artists: are you ready to perform, and what is your favorite tea?

Sit down with host Sarah Gager and your own cuppa, and watch these sets live from WSKG's Green Room.

We're on Tumblr, too.

Sister Sparrow & the Dirty Birds | Really hot tea...

Recorded February 28, 2014

Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds pared down their 8-piece band to fit into our wee little Green Rom set, but the resulting acoustic performance is not any less amazing. Super vocals, lovely harmonies, great guitar and a handful of killer harmonica solos make this a show worth watching again and again. You will also learn things about the bald eagle during Sarah’s “field sounds” game. The interview starts at 8:19 in the video above. (Special thanks to the band for making an extra stop on their Upstate NY tour.)

Ryan Vanderhoof | Chrysanthemum Tea

Recorded December 9, 2013

You might be tempted to turn up the volume on Ryan's performance, but he says softness is part of his style. Ryan, former singer/guitarist for Akron/Family, has gone solo with his new EP "Seahorse Memoirs". Now living in Ithaca, he teaches private music lessons and classes at Hickeys Music Center. Straight from WSKG's Green Room, Ryan performs three songs and tells our host, Sarah Gager, about the origin of "Seahorse Memoirs" (interview starts at 9:23).

Set List:
"Understood" from Seahorse Memoirs (starts at 0:00)
A translation of "Gracias a la Vida" by Violeta Parra (starts at 5:30)

Infinitus | Lychee Tea

Recorded November 8, 2013

Infinitus is a beatboxing string trio. Their stringed sounds and complimentary beats brought our Green Room to a whole new level of cool. Infinitus came to us right after a stop at Johnson City School District where they wowed the students with the same fusion music, plus perspectives on what it means to make and hear music. Hear more about the do-good mission behind their genre-bending tunes during Sarah's interview starting at 7:18.

Grace Kelly | Mint Tea

Recorded October 14, 2013

Grace Kelly is a 21-year old singer, songwriter, saxophonist, composer, arranger... Yep, she does a lot. She brought her talent, energy and soulful style into WSKG's Green Room for a private performance. Though she came to our studios direct from a performance in East Meredith, a small upstate New York town, Kelly leaves soon for a tour in Germany. She tells us about the lead track to her new album, Live from Scullers, we ask her what it's like to be called a "prodigy" (so that we know what to say in case someone ever calls us that), and Kelly wows host Sarah Gager during a word association game. The interview starts at 4:36 in the video above.

Set List:
"Night Time Star" from Live from Scullers (starts at 0:00)Tweet to us with #TeaSharp
