WSKG producers are in the process of creating new programs that will appeal
to both local and national audiences including:
"Southern
Tier Playhouse" -- In the 1950's,
a series of dramatic plays captured the essence
of the American
experience and demonstrated the true power and
intimacy that television could convey. One of
the master dramatists
was Binghamton native and author Rod Serling. In
the spirit of the American Playhouse, WSKG begins
an ambitious
project breathing new life into live television
drama by presenting "Southern Tier Playhouse."
Each play,
written by regional authors and performed by regional
actors will be performed in WSKG's studio and presented
to our television audience in Wide Screen High
Definition. Brian Frey, producer.
"Duck
and Cover: And Other Lessons We Learned in School" -- This one-hour documentary will examine and dramatize
the period in American history when all Americans were
asked to face a growing reality about their future
-- a future that many believed more than likely included
nuclear war. Brian Frey, producer.
"Johnson
and Watson" -- The first comprehensive documentary
to capture the stories behind the lives of George F.
Johnson, the leader of the world's largest shoe manufacturer
-- the Endicott-Johnson Shoe Company and Thomas Watson,
the founder and father of IBM. Brian Frey, producer.
"The Story of 17" --
This will be a two-part series about a New York highway
that tied communities together. Bill Jaker, producer.
