Five companies will open offices at Binghamton University as part of the START-UP New York program.

Three of the companies are new businesses, specializing in laboratory instrument manufacturing, energy storage and consumer electronics.

Two are existing companies with offices nearby that are expected to expand, creating a total of 45 new jobs.

START-UP New York offers ten years of tax-free operation for companies that partner with universities and relocate or expand in or near campuses across the state.

These are the first five companies under to come to Binghamton University under the program, which went into effect at the beginning of this year.
