Governor Andrew Cuomo launched a new statewide program to turn schools in poor communities into social services hubs.

Under the first phase of the plan, known as the New York State Community Schools Initiative, families will be able to find health care, counseling and job preparation help at 30 schools around the state.

Participating schools will receive grants of $500,000 each during the next three years to establish the hubs.
