A judge in Albany has dismissed two lawsuits challenging New York State’s delay in finishing its review of shale gas development.

The suits were filed by the Binghamton-based Joint Landowners Coalition of New York and the trustee representing the bankrupt Norse Energy.

State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman defended the state in both lawsuits.

The lawsuits accused the Departments of Environmental Conservation and Health and Governor Cuomo of abusing their authority in extending their review of hydrofracking, which began in 2008.

The landowners coalitions says it expects to appeal the decisions.
