A manufacturer of packaging and warehouse systems is moving its operations to Downtown Binghamton.

Mayor Rich David announced the move on Tuesday, saying it would bring 14 well-paying jobs into the city.

"They’re looking at the $50,000-$75,000 range, engineering positions, technical positions and other assembly positions," says David. "As the City of Binghamton continues to grow, we will work aggressively to attract these types of businesses to the city and work with them to expand in the future."

ScottTech is headquartered in Conklin, and says the short move is to get out of a higher risk flood zone and be closer to Downtown Binghamton’s amenities.

Mike Yezzi, ScottTech's managing partner, says the location was also chosen because city officials made it easy.

"We got approvals from the city within days, versus weeks or months, so they did a good job for us," says Yezzi.

Their new headquarters will be at 336 Court Street, a 50,000 square foot building that has been vacant since 2006.
