ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — The state Department of Financial Services says New York's comptroller is using an outdated mainframe computer to process pension transactions for state retirees.
In a report today, the department says the 25-year-old mainframe system is written in a programming language created in 1959 that few programmers are still trained to use. It says two operating systems are beyond the manufacturer's support date and no longer getting updated to protect against evolving security threats.
