Retired astronaut returns to hometown

A Vestal native who has traveled into space returns to the area this weekend for a series of events with the Kopernik Observatory.

Captain Daniel Bursch is a veteran of four spaceflights, and spent 196 days aboard the Internation Space Station. He graduated from Vestal Senior High School in 1975. He was part of NASA for 15 years, from January 1990 until his retirement in 2005.

Captain Daniel Bursch will appear at several events on April 27 and 28 in Vestal and Johnson City.
