Rochester remains strong center for patents

The number of patents being approved in the United States - a sign of economic ingenuity - is on the rise. But those approvals aren't evenly distributed across the country.

Jonathan Rothwell, the lead author of the report, says cities can quickly improve their 'inventive capacity' if they invest in the right areas."In a short period of time, strengthening research universities, graduating more STEM workers, can have a big effect."
