The developers proposing to build a casino near Route 90 between Rochester and Syracuse have submitted new plans.
The Wilmorite Corporation says it will increase its investment from $350 million to $425 million. They’ve raised their projected number of construction jobs to 2,100, that’s in addition to the 1,800 direct and indirect local jobs the company says the project will create.
Wilmorite will partner with Los Angeles-based investors Peninsula Pacific to build the casino. And if it is granted a license, JNB Gaming, which is run by Peninsula’s CEO, would handle operations.
The Town Board in Tyre approved the company’s previous plan, a necessary hurdle in the application process. The state does not require approval of a company’s final plan before issuing a license.
Residents have filed a lawsuit, currently under appeal, challenging the process used by Tyre to create a new zoning designation for the proposed site.
The new casino, if it’s built, would be called Lago Resort and Casino.
