Stamford Friends of Music present 'A Musical Banquet'

The Friends of Musicof Stamford, NY welcome the Bacheler Consort for a Musical Banquet on Sunday, August 21 at 3pm in the Stamford United Methodist Church, 88 Main Street in Stamford.  Director Christopher Morrongiello tells about the music on the program and about Daniel Bacheler, the lutenist and composer who thrived during the Elizabethan and Jacobean eras.  We also hear about Bacheler's association with a historical figure whose life came to a famously bad end."The Bacheler Consort is named after the late-Elizabethan lute virtuoso Daniel Bacheler (1572–1619), a most imaginative composer of mixed consort music whose genius is becoming more widely known today. The Consort varies its ensemble size and instrumental lineup to offer a variety of music shows, from intimate recitals of lute music to fully-staged Jacobean masques and dramatic works. The Consort has been together since 2003 and has acquired a reputation for combining scholarly research with cutting-edge historical performance practice. It is in this alchemy that the Consort aspires to conjure up the more elusive aesthetics of Renaissance music-making. " https://www.wskg.org/audio/bacheler.mp3 Photo credit: Bacheler Consort
