The world is saturated with information - all types of media, with millions of varying messages. Not only are your students consuming the media, but with new technology and inexpensive tools, they are also creating content and using media in myriad ways to test their ideas, and tell their stories.

Join your peers for the first of a three part PBS “Live Learning” experience: Empowering Young Media Consumers and Creators. Designed by educators, this virtual professional learning series will introduce a number of teaching models and strategies to enhance your practice. Teaching digital media literacy can be daunting. In the first episode of this three-part series (designed especially for middle and high school teachers) we’ll consider how to tackle misinformation, how to analysis digital media, why it’s important for your students.
Led by PBS Digital Innovator All Star Leigh Herman this session highlights exciting resources and models that you can immediately implement in your classroom.
Prioritizing fun, engaging and accessible tools for your students, the series will highlight techniques for analyzing media, and amplifying student voice through authentic storytelling. PBS will provide a certificate of attendance for each one hour virtual professional learning event.

Sarah Urist Green is creator and curator of The Art Assignment, an educational video series produced in partnership with PBS Digital Studios that explores art history through the lens of the present. Since its premiere in February 2014, the series has grown to over 300,000 subscribers, issued assignments by more than 60 artists, and generated thousands of artworks in response. Green is the former curator of contemporary art at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, where she organized the exhibitions Graphite and Andy Warhol Enterprises, among others, and was instrumental in developing The Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park: 100 Acres. She holds a master of arts in modern art history from Columbia University and a bachelor of arts from Northwestern University.

Joined by The Moth storytelling expert, Micaela Blei, this is an event you don’t want to miss. Micaela Blei is a teacher, writer, storyteller and PhD student. She was a third grade classroom teacher for several years and now does all kinds of work with, for and about kids. When it's above 50 degrees, she can be found on her bicycle all around New York.

Created by ITVS and funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), OVEE combines quality HD media and livestream content with the community-building conversation of social media in a single-screen experience.
