BUFFALO, NY (WXXI) - The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in the cancellation of New York State Regents examinations in August.
The State Education Department had already canceled the June Regents exams earlier this month because of the health crisis. Students who failed Regents tests during the school year normally would have the opportunity to take them again in August.
The Education Department said students will be exempt from Regents exams this year if they pass their Regents courses.
Schools statewide remain closed through May 15, although Gov. Andrew Cuomo has promised an update on that situation by the end of the week, probably during today's daily press update.
