Young Person's Concerto Competition - Winner's Concert

Young Person's Concerto Competition - Winner's Concert
Fenimore Chamber Orchestra will perform the fourth concert of their 2024-2025 season on Saturday, March 15 at 3:00 PM at Christ Church Episcopal in Cooperstown. The program will feature the winner of their first-ever nationally advertised Young Persons Concerto Competition, which drew 22 entries from nine states, with competitors ranging from 14 to 21 years old.
Although all of the entrants exhibited an extraordinary level of technical and artistic achievement, the winner, Isabel Chen, was the clear standout for the maturity of her artistry. Isabel studies with Robin Scott at the Eastman School of Music, where she is completing her final year towards receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Violin Performance. Prior to attending Eastman, Isabel studied violin and piano at the Music Institute of Chicago and was later a Scholarship Fellow at its Academy program, where she fully devoted herself towards violin.
The jury also awarded a money prize to the runner-up, Gloria So One Kwon, a 14 year old violinist studying currently at the Juilliard Pre-College.
Isabel Chen will perform Mozart's Concerto for Violin and Orchestra No. 3 in G. The program will also feature the premiere performance of an instrumental suite from Joseph Bologne’s 18th-century opera “L’Amant Anonyme” (“The Anonymous Lover”). This suite was created and orchestrated from the original manuscript by Artistic Director Maciej Zoltowski for Fenimore Chamber Orchestra.
The concert will conclude with Mozart's beloved Symphony No. 29, composed when he himself was just 18 years old.
Join us after the concert for a Meet-the-Artists reception.
