The New York state Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) identified multiple locations as Class 2 superfund sites in the city of Corning, including parks and the city fire department.

For the first time in Corning’s history, the city passed a budget with an increase in the tax levy that exceeds the state tax cap. The city council adopted the $22.6 million budget for 2026.

Candidates interested in local offices in Steuben County are out canvassing for signatures to get on the ballot.
