New Asia Chamber Music Society—East Meets West: A Musical Tapestry Across Cultures
Sunday, August 17 at 3 PM, Friends of Music of Stamford, NY presents a cross-cultural musical journey featuring the Chinese erhu, Japanese koto and shamisen with a Western string quartet. New Asia Chamber Music Society’s East Meets West: A Musical Tapestry Across Cultures blends instruments, philosophies, and styles— ranging from whimsical Japanese folk scenes and Chinese animal-inspired suites to the lyrical elegance of The Tale of Genji. Keiko Tokunaga (violin), Sean Wang (violin), Andy Lin (viola/erhu), Hikaru Tamaki (cello), and Yoko Reikano Kimura (koto/shamisen/voice) play works by Michael Ippolito, Stephanie Chou, Yaoxin Chen, Tienhua Liu, and Daron Hagen.
This event is generously hosted by the First Presbyterian Church at 96 Main Street, Stamford, NY. Admission is by donation at the door; the suggested donation is $15 per person, $10 for seniors & students. There is no charge for those under age 13. Cash or check only; no reservations or advance sales.
