Tioga County Winter Resource Fair

Tioga County Winter Resource Fair

As winter approaches, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tioga County, in conjunction with Tioga Opportunities, Inc., and Network for Sustainable Tomorrow (NeST), invites the community to the Tioga County Community Winter Resource Fair on Thursday, November 6th from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Union Church, 90 North Avenue, Owego.

This free community event—held in collaboration with Cornell Cooperative Extension Smart Energy Choices, and NYSEG—is designed to make winter easier by connecting residents with valuable resources, savings, and support.

Attendees can explore a Local Resources Showcase, visiting with over 17 organizations and learning about helpful programs and services available in the community. Throughout the event, ongoing informational sessions will provide practical tips and expert advice to help residents stay warm and save money this winter. Representatives from Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tioga County will share information about the importance of energy efficiency, its impact on household energy bills, and available funding for home energy upgrades. Tioga Opportunities, Inc. will also highlight its wide range of programs and services, including Weatherization, which helps homeowners save on home energy costs. Tioga County Department of Mental Hygiene will be sharing information on addiction and mental health support and resources to help people through the winter season.

In addition, the Food Bank of the Southern Tier will offer a free produce giveaway, providing fresh, healthy food items for attendees to take home and enjoy. The event will also feature light refreshments, free giveaways, and free application assistance for local and state programs.

Admission is free, and all community members are welcome and encouraged to attend. Pre-registration is encouraged and can be completed by visiting https://forms.gle/ryt3tNe6scLoYDL7A.
