Local 'The Vote' Presentation and Conversation

WSKG and Roberson Museum and Science Center partnered to offer a free, online preview screening of THE VOTE. This online event took place Tuesday, June 30th, 2020 at 7:00 pm. After the screening, Natalie Shoemaker presented a live look at Roberson's 'An Era of Change' exhibit, and a panel discussion from local community leaders and experts was held.

Our panelists for this evening included

Natalie Shoemaker is the Marketing and Events Coordinator at the Roberson Museum and Science Center. She received her BA in Feature Writing with a minor in American History from Ithaca College. She enjoys researching and discovering little-known places and people throughout history and telling their stories.

Brenda Brown is a retired clinical social worker and a Black History Consultant. Projects include American History through the “EYES” of African Americans, an annual program and exhibit at the Broome County Public Library in Binghamton, NY. Ms. Brown is a Red Cross Disaster Volunteer, a Broome County Board Of Elections Poll Inspector, and a life member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.- Apalachin Alumnae Chapter as well as the Broome-Tioga NAACP.

Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo was first elected in 2004 and is currently in her eighth term representing the City of Binghamton and Towns of Union and Vestal. She has a number of leadership positions in the Assembly including Chair of the Assembly Committee on Agriculture; Chair, New York Legislative Aviation Caucus, and former Chair of the Legislative Women’s Caucus. Assemblywoman Lupardo was also a founding member of the Broome-Tioga Suffrage Anniversary Committee.

Carla Michalak is an Associate Professor of Political Science at SUNY Broome and a Board Member of the League of Women Voters of Broome and Tioga Counties. She attended Binghamton University earning a Bachelor degree in Political Science and Economics and a Masters degree in Political Science with an emphasis on Public Administration and Policy Analysis.
