ITHACA, NY (WSKG) - When the New York State Assembly convenes next week, two Southern Tier lawmakers will assume new leadership positions and chair a pair of legislative committees.
New York Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo will chair the agriculture committee. Agriculture accounts for over 200,000 jobs in New York State. Lupardo represents the 123rd Assembly district, which includes Binghamton, and has co-sponsored legislation in support of New York's emerging hemp industry.
Also, Ithaca Assemblywoman Barbara Lifton will continue as chair of the Assembly Majority Steering Committee. It discusses major new issues before the Assembly and seeks common ground among members of the majority.
Lifton will also continue as a member of the agriculture committee.
