VESTAL, NY (WSKG) -The Village of Endicott is among the communities receiving funds for local bomb squads.
Endicott has been awarded $100,000. $2 million is being spread among 12 communities across the state.
The money comes from the federal Homeland Security Grant Program. It equips and trains local FBI-accredited bomb squads to check for improvised explosive devices.
According to Governor Andrew Cuomo's office, the federal government has given more than $21 million to New York to assist homeland security efforts over the last 13 years.
