ITHACA, NY (WSKG) - New York Attorney General Letitia James was in Ithaca on Thursday to announce the city received a grant of $900,000 for affordable housing.
The Ithaca Neighborhood Housing Service Community Land Trust plans to use it on two developments that will result in 18 affordable homes.
The grant will allow the agency to create a fund to buy distressed properties in the future.
Community land trusts make it possible for neighborhoods to have more control over the affordability of homes in their area.
The funding is part of a state Community Land Trust program to acquire and renovate distressed properties.
Broome County received a similar grant for $100,000.
