ITHACA, NY (WSKG) - Ithaca College will join other upstate colleges and universities and move instruction online. The new measures were taken to reduce possible exposure to COVID-19.
IC President Shirley Collado issued a letter saying that spring break will be extended by one week. During that extra week students will have classes online. Collado said officials expect students to return to campus and resume in-person classes on Monday, April 6.
As of March 10, Ithaca canceled or postponed all events of more than 100 people for the rest of the month. Officials provided a list of eight events that have been canceled due to the decision.
SUNY and Cornell University will also move classes online.
As of Thursday afternoon, there were no reported cases of the virus in Tompkins or Cortland counties.
