Unnamed Member Of "Binghamton University Community" Tests Positive For COVID-19

BINGHAMTON, NY (WSKG) - A member of the Binghamton University community has tested positive for COVID-19, that's according to BU President Harvey Stenger.

Stenger said the person lives off campus and Broome County Health Officials are working to contact people who may have been infected. He said the university will not identify the person, and urged others to respect the patient's privacy.

"This confirmed case was not unexpected: With more frequent testing and the rise of this virus, we knew sooner or later that a case would appear within our campus community," Stenger said in the message.

On Saturday, Broome County announced it's first death related to COVID-19. BU, along with all SUNY schools, has shifted its class schedule over concern around the COVID-19 pandemic.
