BINGHAMTON, NY (WSKG) — Broome County is collecting donated medical supplies. Healthcare workers across the country are having to treat patients sick with COVID-19 without necessary protect. Some have reported reusing their face masks.
The county is asking for unused personal protective equipment like N-95 and surgical masks, medical gowns, gloves, shoe covers, and plastic face shields.
No other items will be accepted.
Donations can be dropped weekdays between 8:30 A.M. and 2:30 P.M. at the former Macy’s in the Oakdale Mall in Johnson City.
As of Monday afternoon, Broome County had dfive positive COVID-19 cases. County Executive Jason said two of the people are in isolation at home and two more are hospitalized. One person died on Saturday at Lourdes hospital in Binghamton.
Officials are urging residents to stay home, and, if you're sick, contact your healthcare provider if with questions before going to the emergency room.
Garnar has also ordered all public playgrounds, courts, and fields to be closed.
