BINGHAMTON, NY (WSKG) - The Southern Tier and several other regions in New York State are set to begin reopening Friday.
Some retail shops will offer curbside pick-up, while manufacturers and other businesses, closed by the COVID-19 pandemic, can restart business.
Speaking Thursday in Syracuse, Governor Cuomo urged a careful approach. He says residents in rural areas should not consider themselves safe from the virus.
“You open a business tomorrow with 50 employees. You don’t do it right, one person was infected. You can infect 30 of the 50 in one afternoon," Cuomo said.
Cuomo is putting the responsibility on local governments and regional reopening boards to ensure social distancing and health safety guidelines are followed.
