The Department of Homeland Security said that the closure extension–which applies to the southern border as well–was partially motivated by the desire to minimize the spread of the highly contagious delta variant.
“I certainly believe a significant number of their concerns of the federal government, the Department of Justice, are going to be addressed by the actions we're taking and have been taking since the election was concluded.”
While New York reportedly added 9,800 jobs in June, there continues to be a labor shortage across the state.
