Your Public Radio
Commercial Free. Subscription Free. Fee Free. Explore podcasts and radio streams in the WSKG Multi-Verse. Just click on the programs listed below or the "All Streams" drop-down above. WSKG's podcasts and radio streams are also available at your convenience through the recently upgraded WSKG app, ALEXA, the NPR app, TuneIn and iHeart. To activate the WSKG ALEXA radio skills, go to your ALEXA app and search for WSKG. Click on each skill and then “ENABLE.” There are also directions on how to ask ALEXA to “open” that stream. Sometimes, you just need to "reboot" the device. Unplug, wait 10-seconds, and then restore power. That clears up most problems.Watch instead by using your Fire TV or Fire Stick remote. You can ask ALEXA to "open" our music and news streams. Very often, a television's sound system includes the best speakers in the house.Try our smart radio players. On all of our webpages, you'll find two kinds of radio players. The "All Streams" button above on the right offers access to all our radio streams, with program information from WSKG News and WSKG Classical. The player found within the "Listen" tab on the left describes the song you're hearing, names an artist, and offers a list of the last few selections, album art (if available) and purchase information. Links are also found below. And don't worry, they'll keep playing should you browse another page.Trouble?: Remember, your Alexa device mostly relies on iHeart and TuneIn, and they don't always understand your verbal requests. If that happens, here is a set of magic words that almost always work:"Alexa, ask WSKG to play WSKG Classical" or "Alexa, ask WSKG to play WSKG News."That WSKG skill is available on your Alexa app, and when enabled, it includes a menu that can guide you to other programs from WSKG.
American Graduate
The national high school graduate rate has hit a record high at 81.4 percent, but a number of students and communities must be reached to continue that growth. Today’s global economy demands a more educated workforce, requiring more students to graduate from high school prepared for post-secondary education and career.Public media is helping local communities keep more students on the path to a high school diploma, college & successful careers.WSKG is a proud community hub station of American Graduate: Let’s Make It Happen! Check back often for local Education news reports, media produced by teens from our area, and opportunities to get involved!
Chasing the Dream
Produced by WSKG, Chasing the Dream is a comprehensive three-year poverty awareness campaign centered on the Southern Tier region of New York. Incorporating television, radio and digital media, this project sheds light on the root causes of local poverty, the reality of what poverty looks like in our region and the successes and challenges of poverty-reduction efforts taking place in our communities. This webpage serves as the online destination for all poverty-related content aired by WSKG and is also a resource for those seeking information on community organizations that support those living in poverty. WSKG thanks the Conrad and Virginia Klee Foundation, the Community Foundation of South Central New York, and the United Way of Broome County for their support of this project.
