Author visit: Gail Mazourek and Cynthia Machamer
Authors Cynthia Machamer and Gail Mazourek join us at Newfield Public Library to discuss their new book, “Dreaded Voice: A Memoir,” the remarkable true account of a mother's ordeal to find her daughter.
From the cover: “Ten-year-old Cynthia chatted with classmates lined up in the school cafeteria hallway. She became immobilized upon hearing her name spoken by a dreaded voice. Fear struck her young heart as she was beckoned and compelled to come with him. In short order the school principal notified Gail, awakening her innate mothering instincts and tenacity, called into urgent use, no longer dormant in a quiet setting. This is a remarkable true account of a mother’s ordeal to find her daughter. It’s a daughter’s testimony of holding on to hope more than 2,000 miles away. These two enter the fight of their lives–to restore that which had been stolen from them.”
