Susie Bright presents: Behind the Scenes of “The Celluloid Closet”

A video show and tell from one of the creators of the fabled Hollywood documentary.

In 1996, Susie and friends Rob Epstein, Jeffery Friedman, Lily Tomlin, Army Maupin, Shirley McLaine, Gore Vidal, Harvey Fierstein, Whoopi Goldberg – made a mouth-dropping movie about the “secret” gay world of Old Hollywood, when being in the closet was de rigueur, but imparting queer aesthetics was EVERYTHING. It was based on the work of film historian Vito Russo, and went on to win Peabody, Emmy, and Sundance accolades – more importantly, rewriting Tinsel Town history with the truth.

Susie will show us the movie, and will tell us the juicy parts that didn’t make the Final Cut, as well as how we pulled it off against all the odds!
