the archaeology of desert water harvesting at a palace fortress in India
Kathryn Gleason will present “Desert Water Harvesting in the Charharbagh of the Mughal/Rajput Ahichhatragarh Fort at Nagaur, Rajasthan, India.” Excavations within this palace fortress in the Thar Desert have traced an irrigation system from outside water tanks to inside the palace, using not only of pools and channels but extensive formal gardens. The presentation by Dr. Gleason (Professor Emerita of Landscape Architecture, Cornell University) is free and open to the public.
