BINGHAMTON, NY (WSKG) -- New York state libraries are preparing to aid their communities in filling out the 2020 census, according to testimonies given Friday.

The U.S. Census Bureau is urging people to complete the survey online. Librarians say that’s a challenge for residents without broadband internet.
"As a trusted community partner, we anticipate our branches will be sought after, not only for information, but also for computer and internet access unlike ever before," said Caryl Matute, New York Public Library Interim Chief Branch Library Officer.
Nearly a fifth of New York state households lack reliable internet access.
