ITHACA, NY (WSKG) - A member of the Binghamton University men's basketball team drowned Sunday evening at Buttermilk Falls State Park in Ithaca, the school confirms.
Calistus Anyichie was 19. The Nigeria native would've been a sophomore in the fall.
Paramedics, the Ithaca Fire Department, the New York State Park Police and the Tompkins County sheriff's department all responded to reports of a possible drowning, according to the Ithaca Fire Department facebook page.
The fire department reported that Anyichie was found unconscious at the bottom of an approximately 15-foot bank. He was given medical assistance and lifted by ropes out of the gorge.
