50 New York Lawmakers Want $2-Billion Dedicate To The Reduction Of Greenhouse Gases

LiftonCuomoLetter-WEB

ITHACA, NY (WSKG) - 50 New York State Assembly members—led by Barbara Lifton— have signed a letter challenging Governor Andrew Cuomo to commit $2-billion for upgrades to homes, businesses and institutions.

The letter states 30% of the state’s greenhouse gas emissions come from such buildings.

The group said the action is necessary so New York can meet its long-term goal of becoming a net zero economy by 2050.

They propose the money be used to create a statewide program that promotes weatherization, insulation, and other energy efficiency measures.
