BINGHAMTON, NY (WSKG) — A resident at Willow Point Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Vestal tested positive for COVID-19. Broome County Executive Jason Garnar's office said the person was moved to a negative pressure room in the facility.
No other resident or employee was displaying signs of the virus. The unit where the person lives is expected to strictly adhere to droplet precautions.
According to the CDC, that includes hygiene etiquette (covering your cough with a tissue and throwing it away, washing your hands), wearing PPE, limiting movement to medically necessary purposes, and residents having their own rooms whenever possible.
Willow Point staff will monitor residents for changes.
According to Garnar, anyone with a family member who tests positive will receive a phone call from the facility.
