Brindisi Holds Lead Over Tenney, According To Siena/Syracuse.com Poll

BINGHAMTON, NY (WSKG) — Congressman Anthony Brindisi (D-Utica) is ahead of former Republican Representative Claudia Tenney in the race for New York’s 22nd congressional district 48-39 percent, a new poll from Siena College and Syracuse.com reported Thursday. The poll has a margin of error of +/- 5 percent.

The freshman Democrat held a nine-point lead over Tenney in the survey of likely voters in the district, which includes parts of the Southern Tier, Central New York and Mohawk Valley.

Brindisi won his last race against Tenney in 2018 by just two points, 51-49 percent. In November, he will face Tenney and Libertarian candidate Keith Price for the Congressional seat. The poll did not include any data for Price.

While Brindisi holds a lead in Broome County, he is behind Tenney in Oneida County by one percentage point.

The poll also found a majority of women reported they would vote for Brindisi in the election, while slightly more men said they would vote for Tenney, 42-41 percent.

Brindisi, Tenney and Price will debate live on WSKG Radio and Television Thursday, Oct. 22 at 8 p.m.
