The New York State DOH shows proposed cuts to Medicaid could cost Southern Tier hospitals and the region's health care economy more than $50 million. Sen. Chuck Schumer is urging New York House Republicans to vote against any cuts.

"We are well beyond anything that anyone ever contemplated as far as levels of uncertainty. So obviously, more certainty sooner is better."

“We can't accept a world where sovereign nations can be impeded upon," Rep. Delgado (D-19) said Tuesday.

Just over a year ago, a judge ordered county elections officials to certify Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-22) as the winner in New York’s 22nd Congressional District race. Elections officials say many of the administrative failures have since been resolved.

The Southern Tier district is currently represented by Rep. Tom Reed (R-23) who announced he would not run for reelection.

“Getting these costs nailed down is really the next step.”

The Democrat unseated one term Rep. Claudia Tenney in 2018, but lost a rematch with her last year.

"The school district has trouble with their teachers getting access to the students. Some of the hospitals and medical units have trouble getting access to people in the rural areas."

“I certainly believe a significant number of their concerns of the federal government, the Department of Justice, are going to be addressed by the actions we're taking and have been taking since the election was concluded.”

No House Republicans voted in favor of the bill.
