Celebrating the 50th anniversary of Alfred, NY's one and only traffic light, this event also honors the intersection of Alfred's three major communities: Alfred State College, Alfred University, and the Village of Alfred. This is a tongue-in-cheek gathering to enjoy our small town and two colleges and their unique relationships. A parade, speeches from both college presidents, a traffic light chant, a traffic light carol, a ritual crossing of the new bridge, sale of ironic T-shirts and "traffic jam," highlight this event. The parade and the event are held together by three leit motifs: 50th anniversary, honoring the 1970's, and a golden anniversary. The event is FREE and open to the public. T-Shirt and Traffic jam sales benefit the children's parks of the Village of Alfred.
