Welcome spring with the Fiddlehead Frolic, Sat., March 29, 1:00-10:00 pm at Newfield Elementary School (247 Main St., St., Newfield, NY). Hands Four Dancers of Ithaca sponsors this day of fantastic traditional social dancing for all, welcoming renowned New England musicians The Moving Violations (Ron Grosslein on fiddle and Djembe, Autumn Rose Lester on fiddle, and Eric Eid-Reiner on piano) and caller Adina Gordon, beloved for her clear, spirited voice and smooth, playful dances. These musicians capture the spirit of each dance--whimsical, lyrical, or driving. We’re also delighted to have local/regional musicians Tim Ball & Alex Fortier on guitar and fiddle, with local callers Katy Heine, Casey Carr, and Nancy Spero. All dances are taught; if you can walk, you can do these dances!

Doors open at 12:30 pm. All dances in the gym; daylong activities in the cafeteria.

1:00--3:00 Open instrumental jam led by Michael Ludgate and Katrina Mackey (cafeteria)
3:00--5:00 Open sing, free-flow (cafeteria)
3:45--4:45 Potpourri of different dances with Tim Ball and Alex Fortier and various callers
5:00–5:30 Contra Medley with Tim Ball and Alex Fortier and local callers
5:30–6:30 Break for dinner; potluck supper in the cafeteria (no kitchen facilities)
6:30–7:00 Newcomers workshop to learn simple steps and patterns
7:00–10:00 Evening contra dance with The Moving Violations and caller Adina Gordon

Admission (member/nonmember/student): afternoon OR evening $20/$23/$12; whole event $35/$40/$20. Free for children 12 and under. Free for musicians and singers who attend the cafeteria jams only. No need to bring a partner, but please bring clean, soft-soled shoes (to protect the floor), a water bottle, and a dish-to-share if you’re coming to the potluck.
