We’re not April Fooling! The beloved Fiddlehead Frolic is back after a three-year Covid pause. Join Hands Four Dancers of Ithaca (HFDI) on Saturday, 1 April, 12:30-10:00 pm at Beverly J. Martin Elementary (302 West Buffalo St., Ithaca, NY) for a day of fantastic traditional social dancing. The transformational New England band Alchemy (Rachel Bell, Karen Axelrod, and Eric Martin) will headline for English Country and couples dances (1:00-3:00 pm) as well as afternoon (3:15-4:15 pm) and evening (7:00-10:00 pm) Contra dances. Vermont caller Sarah VanNorstrand and local caller Pamela Goddard will teach the dances. The ever-popular nonstop Contra Medley (4:30-5:00 pm) will feature local favorites the O’Shanigans (Margaret Ball, Katrina Mackey, Michael Ludgate, and Philip Robinson plus guests Anna DiPaola and Jude Panfil) and a dream team of callers. Beginners are welcome, with a 6:30 pm workshop to teach the basic steps and patterns. The O’Shanigans will also host an open instrumental jam (1:00-3:00 pm). Dinner break 5:00-6:30 pm, with lots options within walking distance.

Admission (member/nonmember/student) at the door: Afternoon only— $15/$18/$9; Evening only—$15/$18/$9; Entire Frolic—$25/$30/$15. Children under 12—free. Jamming only—free. Masks (N9, KN95) are required at all times. We encourage all participants to test for Covid the day of the event and be up-to-date on their vaccinations. No need to bring a partner, but please bring clean, soft-soled shoes to protect the floor and a water bottle. You can join HFDI at the door ($10/yr) for discounts on all our dances for 12 months.
