Newfield Poetry Contest Celebration
The Town of Newfield is celebrating with its 2nd annual Poetry Contest! All grade school or high school-aged residents of Newfield are invited to submit a poem. Entry forms and instructions are available at either the Newfield Public Library or the Newfield Schools offices.
Poetry Celebration Event: May 21, 5:30 pm, Newfield High Auditorium
Events include: Entering a poem, maximum of twelve lines by 5/3. Poems are displayed for a week (May 6-10) during which all students can read and vote on their favorite ones. The Poetry Celebration is May 21st at 5:30 pm in the Vincent Aiosa Auditorium in the Newfield High School. It includes a reception and event where students may read their poems aloud and receive recognition.
Three New York authors are scheduled to review the students' works for special mention, in addition to the entire student body voting on their favorites.
Students don't need to be present to win a prize.
The Contest's purpose is to get kids writing and expressing their thoughts, feelings and ideas, which leads to better reading, writing, and life opportunities. Join in the fun!
