Part I: Family Music Fest DOUBLEHEADER with Justin Jay Hines, Percussionist

Percussionist, composer, and educator Justin Jay Hines has performed with the New York Philharmonic, The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, Moab Music Festival, Alarm Will Sound, and the Chamber Music Society of Detroit. He has served as a Lead NY Philharmonic Teaching Artist in New York City and Japan since 1997, and next February will make his 6th appearance hosting the New York Philharmonic’s Young People’s Concert The Future is Innovation.

Justin presents two unique, family-friendly workshops and performances at Origins Cafe and The Farmers’ Museum. Each event is free and registration is required.

Act I: Buckets of Fun!
In partnership with Origins Cafe, Justin will lead a percussion workshop and concert experience beginning at 10:30am. Participants will first be guided in making percussion instruments from natural materials. Then workshop participants will learn the funky hip-hop rhythms and beats played on the bucket. This workshop culminates in a full group piece for buckets and homemade instruments. All materials, including buckets and sticks will be provided. Appropriate for ages 7 and up.
